Federal Investment in North Louisiana Entrepreneurship

The U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) has awarded a significant grant to support the expansion of entrepreneurship and small business assistance programs across North Louisiana. The funding will help organizations including the Entrepreneurial Accelerator Program extend their reach, develop new programming, and connect more founders with the resources they need to start and grow businesses in the region.

What the Grant Will Fund

According to the award announcement, the EDA grant will support several key initiatives:

  • Expanded mentorship programming for early-stage founders in rural and underserved communities across the region
  • New workshop and training content focused on financial literacy, access to capital, and business model development
  • Technology infrastructure improvements to support remote access to EAP programming
  • Deepened partnerships with community colleges, historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), and workforce development organizations

Why This Investment Matters

"Federal investment at this level sends a signal about what's happening in North Louisiana," said an EAP spokesperson. "It validates the work that has been happening here and gives us the resources to reach more entrepreneurs who can benefit from structured support."

EDA grants for entrepreneurship support are competitive and awarded based on the demonstrated economic impact of existing programs and the quality of plans for expanded reach. EAP's track record of company creation, job growth, and ecosystem development was central to the region's successful application.

Looking Forward

The expanded programming supported by this grant is expected to launch over the next 18 months, with new cohort offerings, community-based workshops, and regional outreach efforts extending EAP's impact beyond Shreveport-Bossier City into smaller communities across North Louisiana.
